NVIDIA GeForce GTX 465 tested early

Chinese site eNet has an early test of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 GPU, revealing some specs of the card. The GPU will apparently be known by the GeForce GTX 465 moniker and contains a GF100 graphics processor shared by the GeForce GTX 470 and 480 but it seems NVIDIA reduced some specs to target more mainstream users.

There are now 352 stream processors, 1GB of RAM, and a 256-bit memory interface. The clock speed for the GPU is 607MHz, 1,215MHz for the shaders and 3,206MHz for the GDDR5 memory. In comparison, the GeForce GTX 470 with the same core has 448 stream processors, 1280MB of RAM, a 320-bit interface and a 3,348MHz effective memory clock speed.

In eNet's benchmark tests, the GTX 465 was a little quicker than the competing Radeon HD 5870 in Far Cry 2, "significantly slower" than the Radeon HD 5830 in Crysis Warhead, and split the Radeon HD 5850 and 5870 in Unigine's Heaven.

The GeForce GTX 465 is expected to launch on June 2 at the Computex show, with expected prices in the $300 range. [via TechReport]
