Samsung Win Mobile flagship reviewed

The Omnia II is Samsung’s flagship phone for not just Verizon but the world; even now, it's still trumpeted as an important device from Korea through to Europe and North America. Everything about the Omnia II on paper makes it out to be an iPhone contender, but we'll learnin our review whether a Windows Mobile device with a custom UI compete with Apple or Google in the smartphone space.

Windows could make a come back

The windows desktop monopoly could make a comeback of sorts, but it won't be with this phone.

What Microsoft would have to do, is somehow tie in Windows Desktop to the mobile experience, so the end user feels they have some kind of advantage...

Like office for mobile, installed for free. Of course phones would have to have the resolution to make it practical....but users could say, hey in a pinch I can examine documents on the road from my phone, sent via email or some such.

Even if in practice they didn't use that feature very much....it doesn't matter there has to be some selling point for the phone.

Right now, Microsoft has lost their mo-jo and the average user doesn't see any advantage to a WinMo phone, the way they once believed they had to have a WinMo handheld, or a Win Laptop, etc.
