HTC's first Windows Phone 7 device surfaces in ROM leak

HTC Mondrian would have WP7, 1.3GHz Snapdragon

What's likely to be HTC's first Windows Phone 7 device may have been confirmed through a firmware image leaked out late Sunday. The Mondrian would be HTC's fastest phone ever with a 1.3GHz Snapdragon that could open the door to both GSM and CDMA versions. It would further match the sizes of the HD2 and Evo 4G with a 4.3-inch, 800x480 display and should have at least a 5-megapixel camera with HD video recording.

An image of a phone accompanies the firmware and may be a mockup of a prototype given some similarity to Microsoft's reference Windows Phone 7 design. HTC is known to be one of Microsoft's key partners for Windows Phone 7 and may ship either the Mondrian or another smartphone by late this year, but it hasn't publicly discussed any of its release plans.
