Magellan outs new range of RoadMate PNDs

Magellan has upgraded its RoadMate series portable GPS, all of which will have free lifetime live traffic updates. This service will let drivers see upcoming traffic congestion and choose from alternate routes. The traffic interface has a flow report that shows the level of traffic rather than just reported accidents.

All RoadMates have OneTouch that lets users save favorite places, categories and searches. They contain six million points of interest, QuickSpell for helping type in addresses and a parking lot finder. The Find Your Car feature also lets users on foot find their vehicles when returning to them in a large parking lot or after a long walk.

The RoadMate 2035 has a 4.3-inch touchscreen and contains maps of the contiguous United States and Puerto Rico. The RoadMate 2036 brings Canadian maps, a built-in AAA Tourbook and Roadside Assistance and Highway Lane Assist. The Roadmate 2045 has all of the 2036 features plus a microSD slot.

The RoadMate 3045 has a 4.7-inch screen and maps of the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The RoadMate 3045-LM adds Free Lifetime Maps. The RoadMate 3055 foregoes the Free Lifetime Maps but gets Bluetooth and voice dialing. The flagship RoadMate 3065 Commuter has Magellan's Traffic Wake-up feature that turns the device on 30 times before the user's commute to gather traffic information that's fully up to date by the time the commute starts.

The RoadMate 5045 has a 5-inch screen but otherwise has the same features as the RoadMate 3045.

The devices are now available with prices ranging from $170 to $300.
