Thrustmaster intros official Ferrari controller

Thrustmaster today introduced its Ferrari Wireless GT Cockpit 430 Scuderia Edition gaming controller cockpit for PCs and the PS3. The 11-inch steering wheel is a smaller scale replica of that found in the lightweight F430 Scuderia supercar, and includes the 5-position Manettino dial that can change the car's performance characteristics during a race. Metal gearshift paddles and a rubber textured grip of the wheel are more authentic touches. The brake pedal has magnetic resistance for a more realistic feel as well.

The controller uses a 2.4GHz wireless connection with a range of 33 feet and a battery life of up to 50 hours. The wheel has 12-bit precision and features 4096 values on its axis. All of the setup is foldable for easier storage and allows removing the steering wheel. It can be adjusted to suit adults or kids, and should be stable with both a lock and a 23-pound weight.

The cockpit ships in June for $250.
