Nokia and Opera side with Adobe in Flash debate

Both companies plan to support the technology
Nokia and Opera have both committed to backing Adobe amid Apple's bashing of Flash technology, according to a Reuters report. Opera co-founder Jon von Tetzchner, speaking at the Open Mobile Summit in London, acknowledged that his company will support Flash with its own mobile browsers.
"It is the only proprietary part of the Web we support," said von Tetzchner.
Nokia's solutions business head Alberto Torres echoed von Tetzchner's remarks, proclaiming "We support Flash as well."
Although Apple has maintained staunch opposition to Flash on the iPhone and iPad, many of the company's competitors are eyeing the technology to give their own devices an edge. Adobe recently launched a Flash 10.1 beta for Android 2.2 devices, as Flash technology was an integral element of Google's recent I/O developers conference.
Many analysts believe that Apple's position may be pushing web developers away from Flash, however many companies plan to launch separate websites -- one tailored for Apple's gadgets and the other designed to take advantage of Flash capabilities. Adobe suggests that the number of developers dropping Flash has not made an impact on the technology's continued growth.
