Panasonic outs Full HD 3D speaker system, more

Panasonic on Tuesday shipped its first fully wireless home theater audio system made for Full HD 3D, the SC-ZT2. The 160W home theater system puts out 7.1-channel sound but uses just two wireless speakers to achieve the effect. Each speaker contains four one-inch tweeters and a long-stroke subwoofer with a diameter of about five inches. A single HDMI cable provides the signal.

At the same time, two soundbar products together represent another first from the company. The SC-HTB10 and SC-HTB500 sport an HDMI 1.4 input that will pass through 3D video from a connected 3D Blu-ray player. The 120W SC-HTB10 has an integrated subwoofer and is meant for TV sets up to 42 inches in size. The SC-HTB500 has a satellite Kelton wireless subwoofer and is meant to be paired with larger TVs. Each draws on a bamboo cone speaker design and produces a 2.1-channel output.

The SC-ZT2 is now shipping, priced at $1,000. The SC-HTB10 ships later in June for $200, while the SC-HTB500 will be available in August with a $350 price tag.
