Sprint, Clearwire extend 4G network in Kansas, Baltimore, DC

Sprint's 4G coverage now extends to 33 markets


Sprint and Clearwire have announced several WiMAX deployments in new markets. Customers can now connect to 4G service in the Kansas City metro area, including the cities of Kansas City, Shawnee, Overland Park, Lee's Summit, Independence and the Northland.

Clearwire has also announced continued expansion of its 4G network across the Baltimore area. Coverage is now available across 725 square miles, including regions are far north as Bel Air, south to Annapolis and Columbia, west to Owings Mills, and east to Dundalk and Essex.

Along with the Baltimore deployments, Clearwire customers can also access the company's 4G network across the central Washington, DC area. Coverage extends to outlying areas such as Silver Springs MD, Alexandria VA, and College Park MD.

Clearwire plans on continuing its coverage expansion through the end of the year, with service arriving in additional cities located in Florida, Tennessee, Missouri, Utah, California, Delaware, Michigan, Oregon, Washington and Virginia.
