Gateway shows notebooks with light-up touchpads

Gateway at Computex is showing off 13.3-inch EC339C and 14-inch ID49C08u notebooks that are unique in offering glowing touchpads. The pads light up only when touched, and are an integrated button, Engadget reported. There is otherwise a chiclet-style keyboard complete with a dedicated social networking shortcut key; pressing the key launches an app that can house Facebook, YouTube and FlickR feeds to a timeline.

More traditional specs include a Core i5 ULV CPU and NVIDIA Optimus tech that switches between an NVIDIA GeForce 310 GPU and integrated Intel graphics in the EC39C. The ID49C08u gets a regular Core i5, 4GB of RAM, a DVD drive and a 500GB hard drive.

Release dates and prices for these notebooks haven't been revealed.
