Panasonic intros the lightest HD camcorder

Panasonic has introduced what it claims is the lightest HD camcorder in the world, the 0.5lb HDC-TM35. The camera can record 1080i videos in the AVCHD format onto SD, SDHC or SDXC cards up to 32GB in capacity. Its lens has a 23X effective zoom and hybrid image stabilization, and the camera can capture 2.9-megapixel still images while recording 2.1-megapixel video at the same time.

Panasonic iA Zoom feature gives it a 23x digital zoom. The two-channel microphone is designed to cancel wind noise and can record Dolby Digital stereo. There is a face recognition mode that supports up to six faces.

Available in white, violet, gold and grey, the camcorder will ship in Japan on July 1st, priced at the equivalent of $814. No plans for a US launch have been mentioned, but Panasonic exports most of its camcorders. [via Impress]
