Toshiba to release Android 2.1-powered netbook

A leaked spec sheet of an upcoming 10.1-inch Toshiba smartbook, the AC100-114, reveals that the device will run on Android 2.1 rather than Windows 7, XP or Linux builds usually found on such devices. The netbook is otherwise said to sport an NVIDIA Tegra T20 processor that can play back 1080p videos with HDMI output. The device is otherwise said to sport 512MB of RAM and a 16GB solid state drive to reflect its lightweight requirements

Other features include Wi-Fi, Ethernet an SDHC card reader and a three-cell battery that should provide up to five hours of operation. The netbook is said to weigh just under 2lbs. A release date or price remains a mystery for now, however.

In the past, Toshiba has only previously hinted at plans to bring out Android-powered tablets, not smartbooks. As such, it's unclear whether this represents an actual production device or a concept. [via SlashGear]
