Sony Ericsson prototype leak may be X10 mid

A leak this weekend may have confirmed Sony Ericsson is planning another low-cost Android phone. While nicknamed the Shakira, it may be renamed the Xperia X10 mid and would sit between the high-end Xperia X10 and the X10 mini. Appropriately, it would have a mid-size touchscreen and likely sit exactly in between for resolution.

The source for Lasomero, who leaked the W150 tilt slider last week, didn't have other technical details; the phone would ship in the fall. Timing hints that the phone may ship with Android 2.1 or later out of the box rather than the 1.6 release on all X10 models shown so far. None of the earlier X10s reached the US, but the full X10 works on North American bands and hints that the X10 mid or other models might work in the US.
