WD My Book Studio LX has new body

Western Digital today put out a new, high-end external My Book hard drive just for Mac users. The Studio LX replaces the usual plastic body with a modern, aluminum shell that both parallels modern Mac design and stays cooler when the drive is running. Much of the Studio's Mac-oriented features are the same and center on both the FireWire 800 ports and pre-formatting for the HFS+ Journaled file system.

The LX still has a USB 2.0 port to connect to more devices and has 256-bit hardware encryption to lock down more sensitive data. Drives ship in capacities of 1TB and 2TB and carry a slight premium over the regular Studio drives at respective prices of $200 and $270. Both should be available today.
