ITC moves HTC vs Apple case forward

The International Trade Commission on Friday agreed to investigate HTC's patent violation claims against Apple. Officials at the US-based agency will check whether the iPad, iPhone and iPod infringe on five patents. HTC had requested a trade ban on the Apple products that would prevent them entering the US.

An agreement to proceed doesn't endorse HTC's view but means the allegations are deemed serious enough to go ahead. The ITC had already agreed to investigate HTC following Apple's own claims that the Taiwan company's smartphones copied Apple technology.

HTC's complaint was a response intended to head off Apple's own lawsuit, which itself is widely considered a proxy battle against Google for its decision to release Android.

Now I have seen it all

Shouldn't ITC look into Apple's patent claims against HTC?
Being that HTC is an Asian based company attacking a US based company?!

    PS I'm Australian....

    Well, THIS makes sense...

A company that's been around maybe three years is laying claim to 'patents' infringed on by a company that's been around for a quarter of a century? HTC has barely been around as long as the iPhone has been commercially available, let alone in the development stages.

Here's the translation to this claim: HTC- "Holy Cr*p! we can't possibly make good on our claim of being an 'iPhone Killer' on our product's own merit; let's besmirch the reputation of the most popular smartphone available and maybe we can pull a Mark Fuhrman on them!"

Yeah, that'll work. Apple's got more legal representation dollars than little HTC. This is going to be a short battle... HTC, maybe you should learn a lesson from Psystar...

    Whoops...

OK, so maybe HTC has been around a little longer than I thought (try 1997). Still, it's doubtful that HTC can take the iPhone down with its legal posturing.

Sorry, I'm with HTC. You blind followers must stop. Just look! The comments have been marked way down for defending apple! We've had enough. I hope all Apple products are banned from the US so it gives them the slap in the face they need to realize what they're doing wrong. Open all the way!
