iPhone to get low-res Facebook uploads
Code hidden inside the iOS 4 gold master build has revealed that iPhones should soon have the option of uploading video to Facebook. Although not exposed on iPhones so far, the code would allow posting up to 480x480, 30FPS video. All iOS devices could play it back, as Facebook is already using HTML5 video that works on the iPad and iOS 4 hardware.
Apple didn't mention Facebook as a feature and may not have it active by the time iOS 4 ships; references have been made to calendars and contacts but still aren't public. The company may nonetheless expose the feature without needing a firmware update. When .Mac was converted to MobileMe in 2008, the company enabled MobileMe media uploads automatically.
Facebook video uploads have already existed on mobile in the past but aren't widespread as few smartphones can play back the content itself. [via 9to5Mac]

Not surprising.
With everybody wanting to do social things with their mobile devices and with as nice as the iPhone 4's camera is supposed to be with all of its video recording features and such, this seems like something that should have been expected. With features like this, it might make Facebook the next great vlogging platform.
