Leaked Droid 2/X commercials hint 1GHz CPU, more
The upcoming Droid X and Droid 2 smartphones may be powered by a 1GHz processor, according to leaked slides and scripts for print ads. DroidLife hosts the scripts, with a commercial called Digits revealing that the Droid 2 will support Email Exchange, have an upgraded keyboard and be powered by a 1GHz chip. The ads for the Droid X focus on promoting its 4.3-inch, 720p resolution touchscreen and available apps.
A multimedia app for the Droid X is expected to make its way into all future Motorola Android handsets. This could be the EyeCon app that will allow for controlling multimedia devices throughout a user's house, though how it will accomplish this remains unknown. An NFL app called Eagle Eye is also being touted and will let owners watch NFL games in 720p resolution.
Both Droid phones are expected to be released in July, with both likely due at Verizon. The Droid 2 will lack the X's HDMI output and may not ship with Android 2.2 right away, though this is not confirmed.
