Samsung chief says Galaxy Tab due this summer
The Samsung Galaxy Tab is on course for a release this summer, JK Shin said in a interview today . The president of Samsung's mobile communications division confirmed that the Apple iPad competitor will be out no later than the third quarter, which ends in June. He didn't give the WSJ pricing.
Preliminary, unofficial specs of the device reveal that it will be powered by a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex-A8 CPU and Android 2.2. It's expected to ship with an e-book reader app with magazine content. The seven-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen will be viewable outdoors, while storage starts with 16GB built-in and is expandable by up to another 32GB with microSDHC memory cards. Power should flow from a 4,000mAh battery.
