Sony details Move controller and paid subscription

Sony at its E3 keynote detailed the PlayStation Move and a paid subscription service, PlayStation Plus. Move will come in several different options that include a $50 stand-alone controller, a $30 navigation controller add-on, and a Sports Champions bundle that includes the necessary PlayStation Eye camera, a Move wand and the namesake game for $100. A PS3 bundle will carry the game, Eye, Move controller and Sports Champions for $400.

Europeans will be the first to get the motion controller, which ships September 15. North America gets it slightly later on September 19, and Sony's native Japan will get it last, on October 21. About 15 games should be ready for launch, but 40 will be available by the holidays, either completely new or as existing titles with updates to add Move hooks.

PlayStation Plus, in turn, will provide the rumored bonuses on top of existing service. Subscribers will get free games, exclusive beta tests, special themes and free episodes of the normally pay-per-episode video show Qore. Multiplayer play and all other existing PSN features will remain free.

Sony didn't say when Plus will go live, but pricing will match Xbox Live with a year of service costing $50; the first three months will be free. A three-month subscription will cost $18.
