Toshiba shows Satellite A-, C-, M-, L-series PCs

Toshiba on Tuesday introduced a plethora of new Satellite notebook PCs, including the feature-laden 16-inch Satellite A665 and the 14-inch Satellite M645. There are also four new entry-level models in the L-series with the 13-inch L635, 14-inch L645, 15.6-inch L655 and 17.3-inch L675. The A665 and M645 can be equipped with chipsets using NVIDIA's Optimus technology for offloading graphics to either the CPU's own video or the GPU, depending on the workload.

They are covered in Toshiba's Fusion X2 finish that has a textured surface and is said to be fingerprint resistant. Both sport Toshiba's existing Sleep-and-Charge USB ports and a new feature called Sleep-and-Music that lets users plug a music player into a powered off notebook's microphone jack and play music through its harman/kardon speakers. Another new feature is Resolution+ DVD upconversion for scaling SD movies to near HD quality.

The two can be equipped with a choice of Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 chips, along with new AMD Phenom II Quad Core processors. Higher-end models feature the option of 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 310M or 1GB GeForce GT 330M graphics processors. Other options include WiMAX and slot-loading DVD and Blu-ray drives.

The Satellite A665 starts at $800 and the Satellite M645at $730. Either ships on June 20th. A 3D version of the A665, Toshiba's first such notebook, is also available.

The new Satellite L600 Series notebooks can be powered by Intel Core i3, Core i5, AMD Athlon II, Turion II dual-core, Phenom II Triple Core and Quad Core processors. Their screens have 720p resolution, and an ATI Mobility Radeon 5145 GPU can be optioned on all models when not standard. Hard drives range from 250GB to 500GB, and can be had with impact sensors to protect data. They can be had in grey, black, red, white and brown.

Prices for the Satellite L635 will begin at $620, the Satellite L645 at $516, the Satellite L655 at $570 and the Satellite L675 at $600. These start shipping on June 20.

The C600 series is available in the 14-inch C645 and 15.6-inch C655, both with 720p resolution. There are either Intel Celeron or Pentium or AMD Athlon V120 CPUs, integrated Wi-Fi, DVD multi-drives and 250GB or 320GB hard drives. Pricing starts at $450.
