AT&T canceling some completed iPhone 4 pre-orders? [U]

ATT ordering system hits more iPhone 4 hiccups
(Update with AT&T response) AT&T's repeated ordering problems with the iPhone 4 may have led AT&T to start canceling some pre-orders that were already approved, early anecdotes said. Customers have received notices that orders placed on Tuesday were canceled today. Despite mixups with identity on the initial day, the identified subscribers appear to be correct and were left with no choice but to wait at a retail store.
"Unfortunately, we were either unable to verify the information you provided or you have exceeded the number of lines of service that we allow customers to purchase online," the warning reads. "As a result, your order has been canceled."
The apparent errors may have come as a result of the sheer load on AT&T's eligibility check system. It saw three times as much traffic on the servers as it did at its previous peak and triggered much of the backlog.
AT&T has been contacted for comment but doesn't yet have a response.
Update: AT&T has given Electronista the following statement:
"Some customers who ordered online did not receive their order confirmation from AT&T yesterday, so they placed a second order," a spokesman said. "These customers can rest assured their order has been placed. We simply balanced out the system on our end to reflect a single order. We are emailing these customers."

OMG!

Not wait at a retail store! Not that! And now there will be some people who won't have an iPhone on launch day! Why isn't Obama and the DOJ looking at that, instead of always going after Apple?
And couldn't they just re-submit their order? Or is that too hard?
