Flock 3 now out, uses Chromium instead of Firefox

The Mozilla Firefox-based Flock browser is now available in a Flock 3 beta build that drops Firefox roots in favor of Google's Chromium and its WebKit engine. As one would expect, the new browser is much different from the original. While the latest Flock browser is currently only available for Windows, a Mac beta is due in July.

Flock 3 supports Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr, the most popular in their respective categories. The browser resembles Google Chrome and Apple Safari as it's WebKit based. It will also have what's being called the first sidebar application in Chromium: the extra area is built in HTML5 and will show updates from friends without leaving the current website.

Changes include a Google search box in the middle of the page, and the home page is set to users' Flock account manager. Next to the favorites shortcut, a 'Talk about this page' button lets users quickly share the URL they are visiting over Facebook and Twitter. Flock also natively supports RSS feeds and simplifies their management.

Flock will continue to support the older, Mozilla-based browser, and expects to release version 2.6.

"The Mozilla Firefox-based Flock browser is now available in a Flock 3 beta build that drops Firefox roots in favor of Google's Chromium and its WebKit engine. "

That gives me a headache. Let me fix that for you:
