HTC Desire confirmed for American carriers

HTC today said that it would bring the Desire to the US in August. Much of the launch is a mystery, but multiple "regional carriers" are said to be launching the range-topping Android phone. More info should surface closer to the release.

Prior rumors have suggested that both major GSM carriers in the US, AT&T and T-Mobile, would each be getting a version of the smartphone supporting their respective networks. If truly regional, though, the Desire may come in a CDMA version for smaller providers like Cricket or US Cellular.

Independently of its connections, the Desire always has a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a five-megapixel camera with flash and a microSDHC slot for storage.
