Sprint to bring out tablets, games, more

Wireless provider Sprint plans to release portable electronics devices other than smartphones to grow its subscriber base, company executive Danny Bowman said on Wednesday. This may include health products for businesses and consumer devices such as Internet-connected tablets, gaming devices, e-readers and picture frames. The first few examples of these devices will ship in time for the Christmas holidays, Bowman said.

Exactly which hardware manufacturers Sprint is in talks with has not been revealed. The business and consumer markets will be about the same in size, but specific estimates were not shared. Bowman heads Sprint's integrated solutions group and is in charge of about 850 Sprint employees.
