TomTom brings Dora, SpongeBob voices to GPSs
Navigation device maker TomTom on Thursday added two downloadable voices from Nickelodeon. Parents can now put the voice of Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants onto their navigators, allowing children to listen to their favorite TV cartoon characters while traveling. The two voices will say turn-by-turn driving directions, with other phrases from the cartoons thrown in.
Dora, for example, will say things like "Vámonos! We're getting closer!" and "Adventures are better with an explorer like you." SpongeBob SquarePants and friends make funny comments such as "Hey, I don’t have a license to drive. So is it illegal when I drive Mr. Krabs crazy?" and "Exit ahead. Hey, we’re cruisin’ in a car! I’ve only cruised in a boat before!"
Voice packs for Dora and SpongeBob can be downloaded now for nearly $13 each. Images that appear during device start-up can also be downloaded for free through TomTom.
