AT&T promises to upgrade Mark the Spot areas

AT&T is letting iPhone users know that it's taking action on their efforts to report trouble spots. Those who reported dropped calls, bad data reception or poor voice quality during calls and reported their locations at the time using the Mark the Spot app are being notified that network capacity will soon be boosted in the affected areas.

The timeline given for the upgrades is usually between 60 and 90 days, and users can provide additional feedback to the text message by replying to it for free.

Until late last year, AT&T had primarily been relying on its own field testing to detect areas with frequent dropped calls or other trouble. Critics have argued that this didn't reflect actual usage and didn't necessarily touch on every region. The results of using the iPhone app may partly explain Apple CEO Steve Jobs' confidence that some of AT&T's problems could be solved by the end of the summer. [via Gizmodo]

    Whatever

I could spend 24/7/365 until my great grandchildren die with reporting all the poor reception spots with AT&T.

    YEAH, RIGHT -

First, if you can't connect, how do you report a problem on that app?
Second, they've emailed me about upgrades to my area - which have proven to be absolutely useless. At least dispense with the BS and waisting peoples time.

    Reporting problem

To the commentator who asked how to report a problem when one can't connect. There are multiple ways to solve that problem and one way is to use the GPS to mark the spot and have that location saved to the iPhone. When the iPhone connects again, it sends the data location of the trouble spot to AT&T. While I don't know if this is how that app works, it is not hard to imagine how this can work.
