Navigon iOS 4 app keeps directions active

Navigon today showed a version of its Mobile Navigator app with iOS 4's multitasking fully built in. The version 1.6 app now won't stop tracking position when the user switches away to another app and will provide voiced guidance even when another app is in the foreground. Calls also now won't disrupt the experience, although it carries the risk of a turn interrupting a conversation.

and third-party apps with their own background processes should also work but weren't shown in the demo.

The download is likely to be ready soon and will be countered by other apps from TomTom and others already working with iOS 4. The app's pricing wasn't mentioned but is unlikely to change from the $80 for the North American edition and less for other regions.
