Acer Aspire One 532g graphics deemed too glitchy

Acer late Friday said it had canceled the Aspire One 532g. The netbook was to have been the first with NVIDIA's second-generation Ion graphics but has been canceled worldwide. A direct explanation isn't known, but Blogeee suspects graphics driver issues; the 532g would have used Optimus graphics switching to flip to either Ion or Intel graphics for either speed or 10 hours of battery life.

Those who pre-ordered the netbook will get alternatives and should have any discounts honored.

Much of the incentive to get the 532g has been reduced in the past few days as the AO521 and AO721 both use Radeon HD 4225, which could offer much faster performance than Intel's hardware without needing special switching. Both systems cost at least slightly more than the 532g but are already shipping.
