AMD offerings limited to entry-level VAIOs
Sony has finally returned to AMD processors in two new entry-level VAIO notebooks, the EE25FX and EF22FX. The company years ago dropped AMD components from its notebook offerings, instead focusing on Intel chipsets. Both of the new notebooks integrate Athlon II X2 P320 CPUs running at 2.10GHz with 1MB of L2 cache.
The EE25FX features a 15.5-inch display with 1366x768 resolution and integrated ATI graphics. The basic configuration ships with 4GB of memory, a 320GB hard drive, and a 3500mAh battery.
The EE22FX steps up to a 17.3-inch display with 1600x900 resolution and the same integrated graphics components as the EE25FX. The basic model ships with 4GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive.
The EE25FX is now available from retailers such as Best Buy for $650, while the EE22FX is listed at Fry's for $720.
