App accesses set-top box features

Sling Media has announced that its SlingPlayer Mobile app will officially launch for Android devices on Tuesday. The utility will allow users to remotely access their Slingbox set-top box via 3G or Wi-Fi networks.

Along with streaming video functionality, the app also provides full control over the Slingbox interface. Users can easily navigate between channels, access video-on-demand content, control the DVR feature, or view pay-per-view videos.

SlingPlayer Mobile will be available directly from the Android Market for $30.
