Sonos prepping Controller for iPad by August

Sonos multi-room audio gets iPad app


Sonos today gave a preview of the Sonos Controller for iPad. The large-sized version shares much of the structure of the original iPhone app but takes advantage of the extra screen area to show more information at once. Regardless of how it's tilted, the iPad will show both the navigation menu as well as the currently playing track and a set of dedicated playback controls.

Depending on the view, it can also show the active rooms and the existing song queue on a given player. The always-on playback controls can change the volume either globally or by the individual device.

Controller will work with the ZonePlayer S5, Speaker Bundle 250 and every other Sonos system so far. A finished version for the iPad is due sometime in August and should be free.
