Mitsubishi adds 3D-ready 75-inch LaserVue TV, 3D kit

Mitsubishi intros 75-inch 3D-ready LaserVue TV
Mitsubishi Electronics added one of the largest 3D-ready HDTVs on the market to its range on Wednesday, with the 75-inch LaserVue L75-A91. The new set adds Cinema Color mode and StreamTV, or access to internet-based media. This includes 1080p movies from Vudu, streaming music from Pandora and photos from Flickr and Picasa. To get 3D, the set requires a separately sold 3D Starter Pack, 3DC-1000, which includes two active shutter 3D glasses, a 3D emitter, 3D adapter with remote and an HDMI cable.
The 3D Adapter will convert side-by-side, top-bottom and frame-packing 3D signal formats sent over HDMI 1.4a to display on all 3D-ready and 3D DLP Home Cinema TVs made by Mitsubishi since 2007. The kit also has a Disney 3D Blu-ray disc that contains 3D trailers of A Christmas Carol, Alice In Wonderland and Toy Story 3 and an educational short on 3D hosted by Disney characters Timon and Pumba.
The set uses 128W when operating, which is half of the energy use required to meet the Energy Star standard.
The TV uses a 120Hz panel with 1080p resolution and 5G, 12-bit digital video processing. There are four HDMI inputs, two components, a USB port for viewing photos and music and an advanced screen calibration feature.
The 3D TV ships in July, priced at $6,000. The 3D Starter Pack costs $400, while the 3D adapter adds another $100 to the tally.
