Sony VAIO Signature PCs add upgraded VAIO P

Sony adds Signature Collection VAIO PCs
North America has just received new Signature Collection PCs, which includes 10 new models, with a new VAIO P among them. The VPC-P118KX/B gets an upgraded 256GB SSD along with a faster Intel Atom CPU, the 2GHz Z550. The price is now $1,500, or a full $600 more than the base price of the newly redesigned VAIO P netbooks.
The Signature VAIO P is offered solely in matte black, and the previously rumored GPS sensor and mobile broadband modem from Verizon Wireless are standard fare here.
Outside of the significant upgrade, Sony also has a new edition of the 11.1-inch VAIO X with the same 2GHz Atom, a 128GB SSD, 2GB of RAM and the same GPS sensor and Verizon mobile broadband module as the VAIO P. It can be had in black or glossy carbon and will also cost $1,500. The VAIO Premium Carbon X has largely the same specs, but has a different carbon finish and retails for $1,600.
The Metal Shield Z has a 13.1-inch display, a 2.4GHz Core i5, 4GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD and its earlier dedicated NVIDIA graphics. Its price tag starts at $2,450.
The Glossy Premium Z uses the same chassis but has a carbon fiber skin. Its $4,800 price tag means it includes a 2.66GHz Core i7, 8GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and a Blu-ray disc writer.
There are three colors of the Arabesque VAIO EA with identical specs and a $920 price tag. The pink, gold and black notebooks have a textured exterior and the same base 2.26GHz Core i3 CPU, 320GB hard drive, 4GB of RAM, and 14-inch screen.
The 16.4-inch Signature Black VAIO F has a 1.86GHz Core i7, 8GB of RAM, a 640GB hard drive, 1GB NVIDIA graphics and a Blu-ray burner. It starts at $2,300.
Finally, the sole Signature desktop is the touchscreen White VAIO J, starting at $1,550. It has a 2.66GHz Core i7, a 21.5-inch 1080p touchscreen and 6GB of RAM. It holds a 500GB, 7,200RPM hard drive, a Blu-ray player and a 512MB NVIDIA graphics chipset.
The limited edition Signature computers begin shipping on June 25 with the Arabesque VAIO EAs already available. [via Pocketables and ChipChick]
