Chrome now gives no choice but to use Flash
Google late Thursday released a new update to the official version of Chrome that has Adobe's Flash turned on by default. Previously only available in test releases, the install gives no choice but to have Flash and integrates updates to the plugin through Chrome's own updating system. The design should mitigate crashes and stability, however, as it sandboxes the plugin to prevent failures from compromising a tab or the whole browser.
Chrome's integration is the result of a larger move that has seen Google promote Flash and become the first mobile OS producer to get a finished version of Flash 10.1 for mobile, which works on any phone running Android 2.2.
The new release is available for Linux, Mac and Windows systems at the same time. Google has a manual download but will automatically update existing installs when users visit the "About Google Chrome" page.
