Google pushes Android 2.2 to all phones
Google tonight began sending out the promised finished version of Android 2.2 to all of its American Nexus One models on AT&T and T-Mobile. The FRF85B build is the first to reach a phone beyond early test releases and should be the first widely available version to handle Flash 10.1. Faster performance, tethering, Wi-Fi hotspot support and automatic updating also come along with the upgrade.
Other devices are due to get Android 2.2 in the future, including every HTC phone made in 2010 as well as the Motorola Droid and the Samsung Galaxy S family. As many of these use custom UIs, the updates are only likely to go live over the course of the next several weeks and months.
