Update available as OTA download in the UK

HTC has finally posted an official Android 2.1 update for unlocked, SIM-free Hero handsets in several European countries. Reports suggest the update is being distributed as an over-the-air download in the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden and Serbia.

The company has yet to offer similar updates for the G2 Touch variants sold through carriers such as Orange and T-Mobile.

For users that have not received the initial OTA update, HTC has also posted the image file on its website. Creating a backup is recommended, as it is unclear if the update will erase existing data. [Download - 80MB] [via Coolsmartphone]
