Company finally making money on the console

Sony is unlikely to cut prices for its PS3 console in the near future, according to the company's Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida. The executive suggests that the console is finally turning a profit for the company. Efforts are currently focused on replenishing inventories rather than offering discounts to bolster sales numbers.

"This year is the first time that we are able to cover the cost of the PlayStation 3," Yoshida told IGN. "At the moment, we are trying to catch up our production."

Yoshida also hinted at upcoming innovations involving Move and 3D content. Sony expects to maintain its current pricing strategy during the introduction of both new features.

Although the basic PS3 may not receive a price cut in the near term, the company still expects to offer additional bundle promotions.
