Handsets will still launch with Android 2.1
Samsung is preparing to bring Android 2.2 to the full range of Galaxy S handsets that will soon be available through different carriers, according to the company's recent Twitter post. Each of the devices will still ship with Android 2.1, with v2.2 to arrive at a later date alongside Adobe Flash 10.1.
The range of Galaxy S variants will include the Vibrant heading for T-Mobile, the Fascinate on Verizon, and the Captivate on AT&T. The Epic, which offers a QWERTY slider and two cameras, is expected to also receive the Android 2.2 update after launching on Sprint.
Although Samsung has confirmed the OS update, the time-frame remains unclear.
