Navigon intros new PNDs in Spain with new names

Portable GPS device maker Navigon has introduced six new GPS receivers in Spain. The group is divided into the 40 and 70-series, in three categories, dubbed Easy, Plus and Premium. The entry-level GPS 40 systems get a 4.3-inch touchscreen, the ability to speak out street names and a One Click menu with three saved favorites. There is also lane assistance and reality view at complex intersections.

The Premium Live 40 models have Bluetooth for hands-free phone use and can pair up with up to two phones at the same time. These devices can also receive live status information on the status of public and private parking, weather and traffic information.

The 70-series devices get a larger 5-inch screen, along with a 520MHz ARM11 CPU for quicker overall navigation processing. It otherwise has the same features of the Premium Live 40, which include more map coverage, a Bluetooth handsfree kit and voice commands.

The Premium version includes extras such as a larger area of maps, the Active Lane Assistant, Bluetooth and voice commands, among others.

The Easy 40 and 40 Plus cost the equivalent of $183 and $220, respectively, with the 40 Premium Live costing about $304. The Navigon 70 series will arrive in Spain later this summer, with equivalent pricing ranging from to $243 to $341. Navigon has largely exited the US market but does serve much of Europe.
