Virgin Mobile USA has launched the promised MiFi 2200. The provider's first such product, it allows up to five Wi-Fi connected devices access Virgin's 3G network. It's also the first US-based prepaid plan available for the pocket router.

The MiFi 2200 offers WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, WEP and SPI firewall security, and has a VPN feature for remote work access. Its battery is rated at as much as four hours of operation, or 40 hours of standby time.

The MiFi 2200 is priced at $150 and available through Best Buy and RadioShack stores as well as online on Best Buy, Walmart and Virgin Mobile. The launch of the MiFi also sees the lowering of the Ovation MC760 USB modem's price to $80 from $100. Virgin's plans range from $10 for 100MB for up to 10 days and $20 to $60 for 30 days, with the $60 plan offering 5GB.

    Works Well

Picked one up over the weekend and it works well with my iPads and Mac Books. It uses the Sprint Network which seems to be better then the AT&T network in the places I tried.
