MeeGo 1.1 screenshots, video now out


MeeGo OS project has entered Day 1, the development team said on Wednesday. To mark the occasiona, the team has released some screenshots of the MeeGo 1.1 interface, along with some features and technical details. Developers are also able to now download an early image of the OS, MeeGo Handset Day 1, and familiarize themselves with source code.

The MeeGo Project Handset Day 1 includes APIs, with Qt and MeeGo's Touch UI framework, as well as handset reference UI and apps. There is a Status Bar for clock, network status, Bluetooth, 3G connection, notifications and battery charge. A home and lock screen have also been developed, as has an app launcher, a virtual keyboard, a dialer, an SMS interface, a browser, a contact list and a photo viewer.

The has hardware adaptation support for Intel's Atom Z600-based handsets and ARM-based Nokia N900 smartphones.

MeeGo will be released on Nokia's high-end Nseries smartphones, and the official MeeGo blog has the OS releasing in October. MeeGo is a merging of Intel's Moblin and Nokia's Maemo. [via Recombu]
