Motorola pushes back Android 2.1 for Cliq

On its support forums on Wednesday, Motorola announced the upgrade from the aging Android 1.5 OS to Android 2.1 is, once again, delayed. Originally promised for the spring, the update is promised as soon as more time is taken to "optimize the experience in some key areas." Accompanying is an apology, but no set date for the release of the modern operating system.

Motorola has also promised an upgrade to Android 2.0, which likewise never materialized. The schedule for Android 2.1 updates for its devices has otherwise not been fully met, as the Droid and Milestone are the only models to have been kept up to date.
