Notebook slated for international launch

Asus has formally introduced its Eee 1215N netbook, which will feature slightly better specs than earlier reports had anticipated. The device will be based on Intel's dual-core D525 paired with NVIDIA's current-generation Ion discrete graphicss. Battery life is said to be improved through automatic switching between discrete and integrated graphics.

The netbook boasts a 12.1-inch LCD with a 1366x768 resolution, along with USB 3.0 connections and Bluetooth 3.0. Hardware decoders on the Ion handle video in H.264, VC-1 and MPEG-2 formats, while an HDMI output can be used to play 1080p content on an external display.

Asus is expected to debut the 1215N initially in the Middle East, although pricing has yet to be announced. It's still unclear if the company plans to bring the device to other markets such as North America.
