Approved for bands I, II and V

HTC's Desire smartphone has surfaced in FCC documents, confirming support for North American 3G networks using WCDMA on bands I, II and V. The filing corroborates earlier reports suggesting the Android-based device may be on its way to carriers such as AT&T, Bell, Telus, and Rogers .

The handset maker recently promised that the Desire will arrive on multiple "regional carriers" sometime in August, although the list of carriers has yet to be disclosed. Earlier rumors suggest T-Mobile may also get the device, but HTC would need to submit another variant for T-Mobile's 3G network.

The current Desire features a 3.7-inch AMOLED touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, microSDHC slot, and a five-megapixel camera with LED flash. [via Engadget]
