Garmin nuvi 1695 spotted at FCC
A new navigation device from Garmin, the nuvi 1695, has gone through testing at FCC recently. Little technical details were revealed about the device, other than that it will be able to connect to GSM networks for live traffic updates, among other things. It also expected to have Bluetooth support, letting users hold hands-free phone conversations and likely stream music.
The new mapping hardware is likely an evolution of the existing nuvi 1690. It also has the nüLink! subscription service that gives users access to Google Local Search and traffic services. How the two will differ is not clear, as the 1690 also has Bluetooth, but it's likely the 1695 will get the historical road speed database, called nuTrends, from the nuvi 3700.
The 1695's price is also likely to eclipse the 1690's $400 tag, but when it arrives isn't yet known. Between the FCC listing and a placeholder page on Garmin's site, however, it is expected very soon. [via GPSTracklog]
