Gateway LT32 promises fast, 1080p netbook video
Gateway hoped to blur the lines between netbooks and notebooks on Wednesday by launching the LT32. It has an 11.6-inch, 1366x768 display that provides more usable space, but unlike most Intel-based alternatives, has the graphics to handle the extra resolution. The system runs on a 1.7GHz Athlon II Neo with a Radeon HD 4225 graphics chipset that can smoothly render Aero Glass effects in Windows 7 Home Premium and 1080p video at its native resolution over HDMI.
The system has relatively short battery life at 5.5 hours but has better than usual specs with 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard drive. Gateway also bundles Microsoft Works for some basic office editing work without having to pay extra.
Just one configuration is available at present and carries the mentioned specs in a blue-finished shell for $450. Gateway expects the LT32 to be in stores soon.
