PDK 3.0.0 for Symbian^3 devices is released

The full Product Development Kit for the Symbian^3 platform is now available, allowing developers to build full apps for the new OS. PDK 3.0.0 includes a full build of the platform and complete source code under the Eclipse Public License. All APIs are there, and this is the first release to get full UI ROM execution on ARM5 platforms.

Registered Symbian developers can now download the PDK. The new open-source OS gets multi-touch support, has multiple home screens with widgets and a unique visual multitasking system.

Fixes compared to older Symbian builds include automatic switching between a cell network data or Wi-Fi connection, improved memory control and a better multimedia experience backed by HDMI output support. [via BetaNews]
