iRiver adds Wi-Fi connection to Story e-reader


iRiver's Story e-book reader has received an upgrade in the form of a Wi-Fi connection. Now known as the EB03, all specs are others unchanged, including the 6-inch display with a 600x800 resolution and 16 grey levels. In the UK, however, readers can now purchase e-books from WH Smith's online bookstore.

The Linux-based device has a custom UI, Flow, and can read ePub, PDF, TXT, FBU and DJVU file formats. Viewers can also read Microsoft Office documents as well as JPEG, GIF and BMP pictures. Music playback is an option for MP3, OGG and WMP files.

About 2GB of storage is onboard and comes supplemented by an SD card slot. Pricing in the UK is set at the equivalent of $379, and there are no announced plans to bring it to the US, though international releases are possible if not likely. The original, Wi-Fi free version was prices at the equivalent of $290 in its home market of Korea. [via Pocket-Lint]
