Kinect to support both sitting and standing
Microsoft's Kinect full-body motion controller will recognize sitting users when ready a company representative confirmed to Joystiq this week. It will only happen when the software has been developed with such functionality in mind, and none of the already announced games have been developed for the feature so far. However, it's possible to navigate the Xbox 360 Dashboard, ESPN, Video Kinect and the Zune Marketplace from a sitting position.
The technology is meant to get uses off the couch, however, in order to help them move rather than sit there glued to the TV, in typical gaming fashion. The changeover between sitting and standing control will be natural, Microsoft said. Kinect is due to hit store shelves on November 4 along with 15 games. Its final price still hasn't been confirmed, but leaks from Microsoft's own site and elsewhere have put a stand-alone kit at $150.
