Samsung N150 subsidized at Verizon
Verizon today added its first Samsung model to its mix of 3G netbooks. Its version of the Samsung N150 expands on the original model by adding a 3G modem that works both with Verizon's EVDO network but also tri-band HSPA networks, including AT&T's in the US, Canadian networks and at least some of Europe. The carrier preloads it with a SIM for those who don't want to use a local carrier for data when traveling.
The PC is otherwise a match for the original version with a 10-inch display, a 1.66GHz Atom N450, Intel graphics and a 160GB hard drive. It can still get on to local networks with 802.11n Wi-Fi, and the stock six-cell battery is predicted to be good enough for about seven hours of use before a recharge.
Subsidies drop the price of the netbook well below its usual figure, as Verizon is asking just $50 for the N150 when attached to a two-year data plan and a $100 mail-in rebate. The system should already be in stock today.
