Samsung Galaxy Beam to launch in Singapore
The first smartphone to have a built-in pico projector, the Samsung Galaxy Beam, will begin selling in Singapore on July 17. The device will first arrive in local stores on July 10, letting potential buyers get their hands on it. Its Texas Instruments-built DLP pico projector is capable of creating a six lumens image at sizes between five and 50 inches.
The projector can also display what the eight-megapixel camera sees, like a classroom projector that throws up written notes on a whiteboard. The handset otherwise sports Android 2.1, a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, 3G, GPS and 802.11n Wi-Fi. Storage is made up of 16GB of internal storage and a microSDHC slot.
The handset will start at the equivalent of $288 in Singapore with the highest priced contract. Plans for a North American release remain unknown. [via UnwiredView]
